Professor Hongnian Yu (Fellow of IET) leads ENU’s team with expertise in digital health, robotics, and neural networks. He has supervised 30+ PhDs, led major projects (e.g., EPSRC-funded Human Adaptive Mechatronics, EU-funded RABOT, SMOOTH, FUSION), and secured €10M+ in research funding. He has published 300+ papers and cofounded the EAST-WEST consortium, advancing international research collaboration. Supporting him on the THUNDER project are experts in public health (Dr. Mary Abboah-Offei), AI-driven predictive models (Prof. Lai Xu), machine learning (Dr. Shuang Cang), digital twin simulations (Dr. Paul de Vrieze), and AI-driven signal processing (Dr. Luigi La Spada), along with 10 aligned PhD students.
