Team of PharmaDataHub
Associate Professor, FMUP; Co-founder
Ricardo Cruz-Correia is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP), in the MEDCIDS department, and co-founder of PharmaDataHub. His research addresses the interoperability of health information systems, health data quality and the responsible use of artificial intelligence in healthcare. He has led national and European projects in clinical data and pharmacovigilance, and currently explores how generative AI and large language models can turn health data into trustworthy clinical knowledge.
Managing Director & Technical Lead
João Almeida is the Managing Director of PharmaDataHub, where he leads the company's technical infrastructure and product development. With a background in health informatics, he designs interoperable architectures based on HL7 FHIR that connect pharmacovigilance and drug-information services to hospital information systems. His current work focuses on AI agents and large language model pipelines that extract, structure and validate medication-safety knowledge, keeping generative AI solutions secure, traceable and aligned with healthcare data standards.
Technical Infrastructure Engineer
Tiago Costa is a technical infrastructure engineer at PharmaDataHub, responsible for the computing environments, data pipelines and deployment processes behind the company's pharmacovigilance and drug-information services. He ensures the reliability, scalability and security of platforms that process sensitive health data, including services powered by large language models. His work focuses on building robust, compliant infrastructure that allows generative AI tools to be integrated safely and interoperably into clinical and regulatory workflows.
Pharmacovigilance Specialist
Inês Vaz is a pharmacovigilance specialist at PharmaDataHub, where she supports the design and validation of services for the registration and analysis of adverse drug reactions. She helps link real-world data from healthcare institutions with scientific and regulatory evidence for signal detection. Her domain expertise is central to evaluating AI-generated outputs, ensuring that generative AI tools for medication safety are accurate, clinically meaningful and trustworthy for healthcare professionals and patients.
Health Economics & VBHC Advisor
Francisco Rocha Gonçalves is a health economist specialising in value-based healthcare (VBHC), outcomes measurement and the economic evaluation of health technologies. At PharmaDataHub he contributes to assessing the clinical and economic value of digital medication-safety solutions. His interests include how health data and generative AI can support value-based decision-making, the measurement of patient-relevant outcomes and the sustainable, responsible adoption of AI tools across health systems.
Health Economics & VBHC
Paula Vaz works in health economics and value-based healthcare (VBHC) at PharmaDataHub. She analyses the costs, outcomes and organisational impact of pharmacovigilance and interoperability solutions, and contributes to the value and business models of the company's services. She is particularly interested in how responsible generative AI and better use of health data can create measurable value for patients, healthcare professionals and health systems, supporting evidence-based adoption of trustworthy digital tools.
Junior Software Developer
Rita Silva is a junior software developer at PharmaDataHub working on artificial intelligence applications for medication safety. She develops components that use large language models to extract and structure information from scientific literature, regulatory sources and drug databases, and helps integrate them into the company's interoperable services. She is particularly interested in prompt engineering, the evaluation of generative AI outputs and techniques that make AI-based tools more transparent and reliable in healthcare.
Rodrigo Rocha is a junior software developer at PharmaDataHub specialising in cybersecurity and DevOps. He maintains the continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines of the company's platforms and works on secure development practices, vulnerability management and access control for systems handling sensitive health data. His interests include the security of AI-enabled applications, such as protecting generative AI services against data leakage and misuse, contributing to trustworthy and compliant digital health solutions.
